New Green Card Rule: Sridhar Vembu criticized for asking Indian visa holders to return home to choose self-respect

Sridhar Vembu has come under fire on social media for urging Indians to leave the US in his reaction to the new green card rule.

Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu has come under fire for his take on a new green card rule that requires green card applicants to leave the United States and wait in their home country to obtain permanent residency in the United States.

Vembo urged visa holders in America to return home and choose self-respect. “Once again, I appeal to Indians in America to get a visa. Please come back to your home country. Even if you feel it takes hardship and sacrifice, self-respect should dictate your path. Let’s make Bharat proud,” Vembu wrote, but faced major backlash as social media users pointed out that it is not about self-respect. Many pointed out that not everyone has a fembo situation where they can leave the United States as he did after living in the United States for 25 years. The United States has declared that “adjustment of status” by which a visa holder becomes a permanent resident of the United States is the norm. It will only be granted in exceptional cases, otherwise all applicants for a green card will have to return to their country and will have to undergo consular procedures. This announcement caused a shock as this would disrupt immigration processes and experts were also not sure how the new rule would be implemented.

But Vembu’s sermons have sparked social media wrath a lot. One wrote: “It’s very easy to tweet Mr. Vembu, but the reality in India looks very different. The government is corrupt, the country suffers from pollution, low quality food and water, and limited access to better education and opportunities. Even your company cannot match the salary package of a US developer.”“If all the people go back to India, how can they live on a salary that is low compared to wages in the US? There is also no peace here due to high rates of inflation and inflation.

“So it is not advisable to return to India leaving real estate and luxury life in USA,” another wrote.A third user wrote: “It’s also time to declare you persona non grata in the US and never allow you to enter the US for any reason.. Let’s see you tweet. And once your work results go down.. you are no better than a below average person in India.”Zoho’s founder returned to India after 25 years and chose rural Tamil Nadu to settle down, where he was calling to mentor talent in rural India. It is not known whether he gave up his US green card or whether he became a US citizen over the years.
