Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has responded to theories that a family member may be involved in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. The 84-year-old was reported missing on February 1 and authorities believe she was taken from her home near Tucson, Arizona, the night before.

Annie is the daughter of Nancy and the sister of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie and her brother Cameron. Sioni is married to Annie and is said to have been the last octogenarian before he disappeared. He reportedly dropped her off after dinner with Annie.
Former News Nation journalist Ashley Banfield had earlier reported that Sioni was a suspect, sparking a lot of interest in Guthrie’s son-in-law and his wife. Authorities have clarified that they do not yet have any suspects in the case. However, the two continued to buzz around, spiking during the investigation. Now, as FBI Director Kash Patel has shared that they have a person of interest in the case, Sheriff Nanos has provided an update on theories that a member of the Guthrie family may be involved.
That’s what the Pima County Sheriff said”The family completely, 100% completely, did everything we asked them to do,” Sheriff Nanos said, according to Fox News’ Finn.
He reportedly added “You can’t accuse people of such a heinous crime and have no facts behind it.” Finn went on to write in X that the sheriff then reported that no one had been officially or publicly excluded.
Authorities detained one man in Guthrie’s case but later released him. As the search for Guthrie continues, interest in Sioni has spread to people in his life as well. These include former bandmates Walter Goncalves and Dominic Evans. The latter has especially been a part of social media chatter surrounding the case due to alleged past crimes.
The FBI, meanwhile, released video footage from Guthrie’s home, showing a man wearing a ski mask and gloves. Now, by looking at the specific backpack that the suspect was carrying, they were able to reveal more details about the person. However, there is no official announcement about the name yet.
Investigators noted that time is even more of the essence in Guthrie’s case, given his advanced age, which means he is not in good health without his daily medication. Guthrie’s drugs were left at his home, later discoveries show. He was reported to have cardiac problems, high blood pressure and used a pacemaker.
