Second note sent in Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement in a statement on X.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos gave an update on the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. (Reuters)It comes after son Cameron Guthrie left a pleading video message yesterday, to contact anyone who could take the 84-year-old woman. Nancy Guthrie was reported missing Sunday after missing her regular church service. Authorities believe he was taken from his home sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

She had dinner with her daughter Annie, who lives nearby, on Saturday night, and Annie’s husband Tommaso Cioni dropped her off at home, according to the New York Times, making him the last person she spoke to before her disappearance. An alleged ransom note had already been sent as Guthrie was missing. However, even after the deadline mentioned in the note, there was no further communication.

Savannah Guthrie, Today Show host and Nancy’s daughter, released a video of the first with her siblings Cameron and Annie. He also requested that whoever took Nancy be returned. Cameron, meanwhile, stressed that it was important to reach out to the person so they could take the matter forward.

New notes, the details of which are horrifying, appear to have been sent after that.

Authority statement regarding new ransom notesThe sheriff’s office addressed the new note, saying, “The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are aware of a new message about Nancy Guthrie. Investigators are actively verifying the information provided in the message.”

“Although this is new information, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department are still asking anyone with tips to contact the FBI at 1-800-CAL-FBI. The FBI continues to offer a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie,” and/or anyone involved in her disappearance and/or arrest statement added.
