Nancy Guthrie status update: New, unverified allegations about “Today” host Savannah Guthrie’s mother have surfaced amid recent violence in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on Sunday. The 84-year-old disappeared after a family dinner late on January 31. No suspects have been identified in this case. Several media outlets reported receiving ransom letters, but Guthrie’s exact current location has not been revealed.

Nancy Guthrie in Mexico?

Days after Guthrie’s disappearance, allegations surfaced that she was in Mexico. One social media user posted a screenshot of the flight tracker to claim, “From what I’ve learned, Nancy Guthrie’s defibrillator lost its Bluetooth connection at 2:28 a.m. on February 1. Nearly two hours later, at 4:45 a.m., a small private plane left Tucson for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico — an unusually early flight for a Sunday morning.”

Another person on X, formerly known as Twitter, added: “Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker lost its Bluetooth connection at 2:28 a.m. on February 1. About two hours later, at 4:45 a.m., a small private plane left Tucson for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This is a very early departure on a Sunday morning.”

HT.com cannot verify these theories. Officials have not yet commented.

Last week, CBS News cited sources that the FBI “has been in contact” with the Mexican government and Mexican law enforcement regarding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. But Mexican authorities denied the report, saying there was no contact.

Meanwhile, NBC News quoted two officials as saying there was no evidence that Guthrie crossed the US-Mexico border.

What’s happening in Puerto Vallarta?

On Sunday, reports emerged of violence and car fires in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This came amid federal operations in the municipality of Tapalpa in the state of Jalisco, according to the Mexican daily newspaper El Financiero.

The governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemos, confirmed the unrest, saying: “Federal forces carried out an operation in Tapalpa a few hours ago, which led to clashes in the area. Also as a result of the aforementioned operation, at different points of that area and in other parts of Jalisco, individuals burned and blocked vehicles with the aim of obstructing the actions of the authorities.”

He added: “I have given instructions to immediately establish a security coordination table with authorities from all three levels of government and activate Code Red in order to prevent actions against the population.”

However, there is no confirmed link between the violence in Puerto Vallarta and Nancy Guthrie’s investigation. There is no official comment on the matter and everything posted on social media are just bizarre theories.
