Indian-origin man in critical condition after saving sister in Australia restaurant fire: '70 per cent burns all over his body'Baljit Singh, 47, is receiving treatment in the burns unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital after suffering burns to about 70 per cent of his body in the fire that broke out at the Mustard Seed restaurant in Hahndorf on Tuesday evening.Family members said Singh acted without hesitation when the fire suddenly broke out inside the building, Australia Today reported.His brother-in-law, Inderjeet Singh, told 7News that Baljit pushed his sister Satbir out of the way as the flames spread through the building.“My brother-in-law… got hit by a lot of fire and saved my wife. He is a brave man,” Inderjeet said.According to the family, the couple entered the restaurant after hearing an unusual noise when flames suddenly broke out.“Suddenly a very big fire broke out… it pushed my wife away and was pretty much burnt out, my wife was also burned,” Inderjeet added.Baljit Singh underwent emergency surgery while doctors continue their efforts to stabilize his condition. His relatives described his injuries as very serious, and said they held out hope for his recovery.“His skin was completely burned… He had 70 percent burns all over his body.

The family said he is a strong man and we are praying for him.The family is dealing with the trauma while also fending off online rumors that implicate them in causing the fire.“With the rumors and speculation, I feel very sad,” Inderjeet said.“This is really devastating because we are now experiencing a lot of pain and stress,” he added.The owners of Mustard Seed said the restaurant was more than just a business, describing it as a second home built on memories and regular customers.Police in South Australia are still investigating the cause of the fire. The family also expressed concerns that the fire was suspicious, and urged anyone with information or CCTV footage to help investigators.
