London: A man is in custody after a truck hit a pedestrian during protests against the removal of flags in Birmingham
A man has been arrested in London after a pedestrian was struck by a truck following an incident linked to the removal of flags on lampposts in Birmingham. The accident occurred on Thursday evening, leaving a man in his 30s with two broken legs that required surgery.
Police later arrested a 44-year-old man at Euston station near the area where the “Unite the Kingdom” rally gathered. Separately, another person was arrested on charges of encouraging attacks on a police officer.Reports from The Guardian cited statements from West Midlands Police about the collision, arrests and ongoing investigation.The investigations rely on information provided by the investigators that the truck driver hit pedestrians and fled the scene.
Later, the police were able to recover the car from the nearby Prince Road.According to a police spokesman, “A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of injury following a collision between a van and a pedestrian in Stirchley on Thursday evening. Officers from the Metropolitan Police arrested the man in London this morning.” [Sat]He will be questioned by our officers in due course.”“The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, suffered leg injuries in a collision on Mayfield Road and remains in hospital,” she added.
