Canadian authorities have deported two Indians for their involvement in a host of illegal activities in the country, including extortion, menacing the public, arson, shoplifting, etc.
It is not known if they were related, known to each other, or worked in the same gang, but they both came to Canada at about the same time, one year apart. Their cases were handled by different police departments.
Who is Loveber Singh?
Surrey police in British Columbia, Canada, announced that they have deported a suspect in an extortion case, and are now conducting deeper investigations into the crime that has plagued several pockets of the country.
The police published the name and photo of 22-year-old Lovebir Singh, and requested more information about him. Surrey Police said a $250,000 fund has been established to reward people who provide information leading to charges and convictions in racketeering-related cases.
Arrived in Canada in 2023
Loveber Singh, 22, came to Canada in 2023, according to a statement from the Surrey Police Service. Local authorities identified him earlier this year as someone “suspected of involvement in criminal activity related to extortion,” police said.
The Canada Border Services Agency was notified and ordered Singh removed after an immigration investigation.“The Surrey Police Service is releasing a photo of a man who has been deported from Canada in the hope of appealing to the public for information about his companions and activities while in Canada,” the statement read. “SPS hopes that the public release of this photograph of Lovebir Singh will prompt more witnesses, victims or associates to come forward with relevant information regarding Lovebir Singh’s activities.
Any information provided by the public or its partners can help the police gather information on people and potential criminal networks involved in violent extortion.
Who is Arshdeep Singh?
Arshdeep Singh came to Canada as a student in August 2022 and was living on a post-graduation work permit that was still valid — due to expire in Oriel 2026. Edmonton police arrested Arshdeep for shoplifting at the West Edmonton Mall in November 2025. The investigation revealed that the shoplifting was just the tip of the iceberg, and he was part of a network involved in arson, shootings, extortion, car theft, and insurance fraud.
CBC reported that Arshdeep was deported after he was found not allowed to enter Canada last December because he did not resist deportation, although he denied any wrongdoing.
