Social media erupted in outrage after Laura Loomer slammed Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance.

Right-wing activist Laura Loomer drew backlash on social media for her comments about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance, criticizing the song choices, stage visuals and what she described as the show’s broader message.

Lumer also commented on the set design, claiming: “You’ll notice that the set he played on was decorated with EBT signs and the women looked like hookers.” (@lauralumer/x)In a post on X on February 9, Loomer focused on the opening song of Bad Bunny’s performance, writing: “The song Bad Bunny performed to open the halftime show tonight was called ‘My Aunt Asked Me'””

He added, “It’s a song about his aunt asking him why he has so many girlfriends. He says he wants to bring all his girlfriends to the VIP section of the club.”

Commenting on the set design, Lumer claimed, “You’ll notice that the set he played on looked like an EBT sign and a women’s hooker.”

Linking the performance to social and political issues, he wrote, “Why do we need more in America? More people who can’t speak English who can’t afford to have affairs with multiple women and raise children?”

He added, “How do we encourage people to be in committed relationships and have a partner?”

Continuing his criticism, Loomer said: “We wouldn’t need signs that say EBT is accepted here and we wouldn’t need to integrate ESL programs in our schools if we stopped encouraging foreigners to have multiple baby mothers and baby fathers.”

He ended the post by writing: “Some people call it ‘entertainment’. I call it great substitution.”

Other comments by Laura LoomerEarlier in the day, Lumar also posted about the halftime show’s opening visual, saying, “It’s a shame that the Super Bowl halftime show opened with a scene that was supposed to be illegal alien farm workers.”

“What the hell is this illegal alien farm worker not english sh** on my TV. Someone call @ICEgov,” she wrote in another post.

A community note below Lumar’s post states that Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, is Puerto Rican and Puerto Ricans are US citizens.

Lumer also responded to a post that noted that “Puerto Ricans are Americans,” saying, “It’s not about that. It’s about refusing to speak English. English is our national language.”

Netizens are outraged in responseLumar’s comments sparked backlash on X, with several users accusing him of politicizing an entertaining performance and targeting immigrants.

One user commented, “It feels like projecting politics onto a performance – not art policy, and immigrants not the problem.”

Another shot back at Loomer’s performer’s characterization, saying, “You’re looking for reasons to hate. We’re not reading for that. Puerto Ricans sacrificed and served in WW2 and Vietnam. They’re a part of American history. And anyone who lives on the mainland as an American.”

Others added that his comments were designed to incite anger rather than address real issues.

At the same time, some users also supported Loomer’s criticism of the halftime show. One supporter wrote, “Glad I boycotted it. Yuck,” while another described the performance as “absolute trash,” adding, “I want to know who organizes this evil trash?”
