Saudi Arabia grants visa exemption and free exit fine to stranded tourist/actor
Saudi Arabia has announced temporary measures to address the status of visitors whose visas have expired, providing flexibility to those who cannot leave due to disruptions caused by the ongoing US-Israel war with Iran.
The move comes as authorities respond to travel difficulties linked to the conflict.The Ministry of Interior said that the decision applies to holders of visit visas, Umrah visas, transit visas, and final exit permits that expired in late February 2026. The initiative aims to help those who were unable to leave the Kingdom as planned.Under the new rules, affected individuals have two options. They can choose to extend their expired visas, or leave the country directly without facing penalties.
In the first option, visa holders can apply for an extension through their host. The extension will be valid until April 18, 2026, provided that the required fees are paid through the Absher platform. This allows visitors to organize their stay and stay in the Kingdom for a limited period.Instead, individuals whose visas have expired will be allowed to exit Saudi Arabia directly through international departure points.
In this case, there will be no requirement to renew the visa, and no overstay fees or fines will be imposed. This option aims to make the checkout process easier for those looking to leave immediately.The Ministry explained that the measures include visas that expired on February 25 and 26, 2026, ensuring that all individuals affected during this period are included under the directive.
