Chirayu Rana took leave for dad's death in 2024 but his father is alive; says he doesn't know anything about JP Morgan row

A report claims that Shirayu Rana who made the sexual assault allegation against Lorna Haydeni (left) has taken leave due to his father’s death in 2024 but his father is alive.

Chaitanya Rana, Shirayu Rana’s father, responded to the row over his son, telling the New York Post that he was not aware of Shirayu’s sexual assault case against JP Morgan CEO Lorna Hajdini.

But what’s even more interesting is that The Washington Post discovered that Shirayu claimed in mid-December 2024 that his father had died and that he had taken time off work to be with his family. While the Post cited sources for this information, they claimed to have contacted Shirayu’s family and discovered that his father was alive and well. He said Shirayu did not tell them anything about the case.“I don’t know anything about it. He didn’t talk to us or anything,” Chaitanya Rana told The Post.

“He’s my son. He’s a good man.”The report described Shirayu as a liar and said he was allowed to work remotely when he told his bosses that his father was seriously ill. He then exhausted a series of leave allowances between early March and the end of May last year, when an initial draft complaint was sent to the bank’s legal team, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.A source familiar with its contents said: “In or around November 2024, the plaintiff’s father died, and he went to his parents’ home in Virginia.”

“The company thought he was onto something,” one source said. “You could tell he was trying to game the system.”Attorney Greg Chiarello prepared the May 2024 document, which also claimed that Rana’s mother, Barona, was ill.In late 2025, Shirayo left JPMorgan and joined the investment firm Bregal Sagemount and then left that job on April 2, 2026. In late April 2026, he filed a civil suit in New York County Supreme Court under the pseudonym “John Doe,” accusing CEO Lorna Haidini, 37, of drugging him with Rohypnol and Viagra, forcing him to perform degrading sex acts, and threatening his career. If he refuses.JPMorgan disputed his claims and said Shirayu never reported to Hajdini.
