Newly released US Justice Department files have fueled speculation that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein may be secretly fathering the child. This has been compounded by allegations from a former teenage victim who claims her baby was taken from her shortly after birth.

Jeffrey Epstein died in August 2019 and did not give birth to any children, according to official records. (x/@donaldbkipcore)The claims are among nearly three million documents released this week. References buried within the records indicate that Epstein may be the father of the child, although none of the allegations have been independently verified.

Allegations of taking the child after birth are in the diaryOne of the most serious claims comes from a diary entry written by an Epstein victim who said she gave birth to a daughter around 2002, when she was about 16 or 17 years old, the Times reported.

The diary includes a pregnancy scan at 20 weeks of pregnancy.

According to the diary, the baby was taken from her about ten minutes after birth. The woman alleged that the removal was overseen by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s ex-girlfriend.

“She was born, I heard her cry!” written by a woman. “I saw this little head and body in the doctor’s hands. Ghislaine said she was beautiful. Where is she?”

The diary also details the woman’s suffering, alleging that Epstein pressured her through genetics and what she referred to as a “superior gene pool”, consistent with Epstein’s previously reported revisions to eugenics-linked ideas.

Limits on legal filings and verificationsAccording to the Times, the diary was shared with federal prosecutors investigating Epstein and Maxwell by female lawyers at Wigdor LLP. In 2023, the woman filed a civil suit under the pseudonym Jane Doe against Epstein’s associate Leon Black, alleging rape at Epstein’s home.

Black has denied the allegations, and the case is ongoing.

The Times confirmed the woman’s identity but chose not to release her name. The publication said it could not independently verify her claims or determine what happened to the alleged child.

There has never been public confirmation that Epstein had children and no children were listed in the will he made before his death in a New York prison in 2019.

Respond via social mediaThe release of the document sparked a backlash on X and Facebook.

“No surprise, there,” read one Facebook comment.

Other users questioned what happened to Epstein’s wealth and possessions, while some speculated about the identity of possible children.

Epstein previously told scientists he wanted to spread his DNA through a so-called “baby farm,” a plan reported by The New York Times in 2019. There is no evidence that the idea was ever carried out
