Pro-Israel Democratic Congressman Dan Goldman was present at the Café Poetica in Brooklyn, which he later objected to and said he was not welcome there.
A Brooklyn café protested against Congressman Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) after Goldman stopped by the café with his 7-year-old daughter on Sunday. It was the last day for voters to cast early ballots in the Democratic primary race as he faces a challenge from Brad Lander.
Hours after his visit to the café, Boetica published a post on Instagram bluntly telling him that he was not welcome in the café. The café workers did not recognize him, otherwise they would have rejected him immediately.“We saw you stopped by our store today for coffee,” reads the caption below a photo of Goldman looking at his phone in front of the store’s cash register, an image that appears to be from a surveillance camera. “See how it doesn’t taste like Genocide Juice? Or are you still having trouble telling the difference?”“We do not serve racists, fascists, homophobes, genocidal acolytes, or anyone in between.
“It’s too bad we didn’t recognize you right away, otherwise we would have rejected you,” the now-deleted post read.

Goldman said he was at the café because his daughter wanted to use the bathroom and bought a cup of coffee in exchange for the kindness shown by the bartender.
Goldman, an Israel sympathizer, responded to the hate post and said he visited the café so his daughter could use the bathroom but bought a coffee to thank one of his employees for allowing her. “I’m sorry to see this post,” he said. “The waiter could not have been nicer to me and my 7-year-old daughter – he allowed her to use the bathroom even though we didn’t buy anything.
She made sure to buy me coffee in return for her kindness.
I hope you at least make sure she gets the tip she deserves.”Poetica said she returned the money to Goldman and it was the waiter’s suggestion that she return the money to him.
The Ministry of Justice opens an investigation against the café
Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon said the Justice Department has opened an investigation into Poetica Cafe in Brooklyn. Dillon said the department was aware of the “denial of service taunts” directed at Goldman, and said federal law prohibits public accommodations, including coffee shops, from discriminating against customers on the basis of race, religion or national origin.
Dillon said the alleged denial of service could violate federal anti-discrimination law and says enforcement action is possible.
Turning coffee into a test of Jewish identity…
Mark Treyger, CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, said the incident requires review under city and state human rights laws. “Turning a cup of coffee into a test of Jewish identity is an affront to the law, our values, and all New Yorkers who reject discrimination,” he wrote on X. “If a particular Jewish customer walked into a café wearing a kippah or Star of David, would he be expected to first disclose his views on Middle East politics before being served?”

The owner of Poetica Cafe, Parviz Mammadkulov, is known for his anti-Israel activities on social media.

Poetica’s owner, Parviz Mammadkulov, is an Uzbek immigrant known for his anti-Israel posts on social media. “Israel is Nazi Germany at the moment,” he wrote in response to a video posted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
