Iran executes a man convicted of spying for the Israeli Mossad

The Iranian judiciary announced, on Wednesday, the execution of a death sentence by hanging on a man convicted of links to the Mossad, in the latest episode of a series of executions in connection with the war with Israel and the United States, according to Agence France-Presse.The judicial website “Mizan Online” identified the man as Mahdi Farid, and said that he was executed after being convicted of “intelligence cooperation and espionage for the Zionist regime” under the crime of “spreading corruption on earth,” which is punishable by death.Mizan Online said: “Mahdi Farid was executed this morning on charges of extensive cooperation with the terrorist spy agency Mossad after examining the case and approving the final ruling.”According to the report, Farid held a position in the civil defense unit within a sensitive organization and used his access to collect information and pass it to Mossad. The Supreme Court upheld the death sentence issued against him, and it was executed after completing legal procedures. It was not immediately clear when he was arrested or when he was tried.Iran has carried out several executions in recent weeks involving people linked by authorities to the January protests, which Tehran claimed were incited by Israel, the United States and opposition groups, including the banned Mujahedeen-e-Khalq organisation. The ceasefire between Iran, Israel and the United States has been in effect since April 8, and was extended by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
