However, two ransom notes sent to the Guthrie family are believed to have been sent by the same person(s) who kidnapped Nancy from her home, CBS News reported on June 22, citing investigators familiar with the case. They believe the same person or group of people sent both notes, which likely came from the same computer IP address.

Nancy’s whereabouts have been unsolved for some time. Only traces of blood and a doorbell security camera proved that she had been abducted from her home by a masked, gloved person, whose identity had not yet been established at press time.

It was sent to TMZ and local news outlets, demanding that the Guthrie family pay approximately $4 million to a specific Bitcoin wallet address in exchange for Nancy’s release. In the letter, the kidnappers claimed that Nancy was “safe but afraid.”

The second ransom note, sent days later, claimed that Nancy was dead. According to CBS News, sources who examined the second ransom note said the apparent kidnapper(s) said her alleged death was unintentional on their part.

The contents of the second memo have not yet been revealed to the public.

During an interview with NBC in March, Savannah indicated that her family believes these two ransom notes are authentic.

The radio journalist said: “I think there were a lot of different notes that came in, and I think most of them – from my understanding – are not real, and I did not see them.” “But I think the two memos that we received, that we responded to, I’m inclined to believe they’re real.”
