Ali Larijani, Iran’s top security official, accused US President Donald Trump of dragging Americans into what he called an “unjust war” with Iran, declaring that Tehran would not negotiate with Washington amid the escalating conflict.Larijani, who heads Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, made these statements after a weekend that witnessed intense US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets. The confrontation led to a sharp escalation in tensions across the region. In the same post, Larijani warned that Iran would retaliate following the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, vowing that his death “will lead to a heavy price.”He added: “Mr. Trump, through Netanyahu’s clownish actions, has dragged the American people into an unfair war with Iran.
Now let him do the math: With over 500 American soldiers killed (in the last few days), is it still “America First” or “Israel First”? The saga continues. The martyrdom of Imam Khamenei will cost you dearly. God willing,” he said in a post on X.
The latest exchange comes after US and Israeli forces launched a wave of strikes on Iranian facilities, intensifying hostilities that followed stalled nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington.
Larijani accused Trump of destabilizing West Asia, saying that the US president’s actions had thrown the region into a state of chaos while endangering US forces. The conflict has expanded since then. Iran launched new strikes targeting Israel and American military bases in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Tehran also closed the strategic Strait of Hormuz, causing global oil prices to rise. The US military has confirmed that six Americans have been killed so far. The Iranian Red Crescent Society says at least 787 people were killed in the US-Israeli raids, while Israeli reports put the death toll there at 11.
