The FBI on Tuesday released photos and video footage of the masked man as part of its investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. The release led to online speculation about the man’s identity, sparking claims that have not been confirmed by authorities. The content depicts a man wearing gloves, a mask and a backpack at the entrance to Guthrie’s residence on the morning of his disappearance. The man’s eyes can be seen through the opening of the mask, and the footage shows the man tampering with the house’s doorbell camera.
Patel said the man is armed, noting that at least one of the videos shows a firearm.
“Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered new previously inaccessible images showing an armed man tampering with a camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” Patel said.

Is Dominic Evans the masked man in the Nancy Guthrie suspect video? Verifying the authenticity of viral claimsSoon after the videos were released, online discussion began about the masked man’s identity, with many suggesting a connection to Tommaso Cioni, Nancy Guthrie’s son-in-law.
A social media account called Atom Report, analyzed the footage and conducted a profiling match, claiming that the man could possibly be Dominic Evans.
“ANALYSIS: Who is the masked man? We are tracking reports that the “subject” in the Nancy Guthrie footage matches the physical profile of Dominic Evans, drummer for the band Early Black. The Connection: Evans is a direct bandmate of Tommaso Cioni. The Match: Evans matches Evans’ physical profile. Hair (dark mustache and goatee) aligns with his known profile,” it wrote
“Whoever this Dominic Evans guy is, Tommaso Cioni’s bandmate (Nancy Guthrie’s son-in-law) looks exactly like him. I’ve seen numerous posts that he has a record and is a suspect, I apologize if he’s cleared please lmk!’ Another X user said.
However, there was no formal verification of the man’s identity, and officials were unable to identify any suspects.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office, which is overseeing the investigation, released a similar statement to the FBI and indicated that no media briefings are scheduled at this time.
