Iranian regime sends text messages to civilians threatening they would be executed: Report

The Iranian regime is sending letters to civilians, who it believes have links to “hostile” foreign media, threatening them with the harshest penalties, News Nation reported, citing a letter sent to an Iranian refugee from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Legal Warning: What the message says“Legal Warning: Under the directives of the Supreme National Security Council and Article 4 of the Law to Aggravate Penalties for Crimes Committed against the Zionist Entity, membership in virtual spaces, channels and pages affiliated with hostile foreign media – especially the so-called “international” terrorist network – and sending any photos, videos, content or location data are considered crimes.

Under wartime conditions, such actions may result in the harshest penalties.“Given your membership in these pages, we warn you that if you do not leave these pages and channels, legal action will be taken against you in accordance with the established laws. If you have any clarification in this matter, please call 113 or send a message through the Ministry of Intelligence platforms on the messaging applications ETA, Bell or Rubica.”

The report said that messaging applications such as ETA, BLE, and Rubika are similar to WhatsApp and Telegram.

“They read SMS messages, WhatsApp messages, Instagram posts and stories,” the refugee said, adding that they had previously been interrogated in Iran and the threats escalated after the war began. “I was told that I could face severe punishment, meaning death,” they said.Iran recently executed three men it accused of killing police officers during anti-government protests in January.

Among the three men was Saleh Mohammadi, a member of the Iranian national wrestling team. The executions were carried out on Thursday morning amid the ongoing war. According to human rights groups, the three men confessed under torture and were executed without a fair trial.Their deaths came a day after Iran executed an Iranian-Swedish citizen. Kourosh Kayvani was executed by hanging after being convicted of spying for Israel.
