A 28-year-old man was shot and killed in North Philadelphia after delivering pizza boxes inside an apartment association. The man has been identified as Anshul Koncha, an Indian man. The shooting happened Friday just after 12:30 a.m. at the Raymon Rosen Homes apartment complex on Edgeley Street in North Philadelphia.
Concha was shot in the head after completing the delivery. The address at which the delivery was made was, in fact, a vacant unit. But the police found a phone number from which the order was issued and are working to investigate this matter.Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police Department said: “He was lying on the ground unresponsive, and was bleeding heavily due to a gunshot wound to his head.” He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“By looking at the pizza boxes, we were able to identify the pizza shop,” Small said. It has now been confirmed that Kuncha was working for Pete’s Pizza. At the scene, police found three spent shell casings, just inches from where the victim was found. “This is an indication that the shooter or shooters were standing very close to the victim,” Small said. The victim’s car was also discovered near the scene, and a pizza warmer was inside.
Inside the vacant apartment, officers found three pizza boxes and a bag, which appeared to be untouched, leading investigators to believe the victim successfully delivered the items before he was shot outside.Police said surveillance cameras operated by the Philadelphia Housing Authority captured parts of the incident and the shooting was not captured on camera. But the delivery man was followed by two people wearing dark clothes. The footage revealed that one of the people who was following the victim was carrying a dark-colored backpack. No one has been detained, but police said they have evidence. “We have the phone number that delivered the pizza,” Small said.
