Shagir Venga wins Rs 5 crore in Millionaire campaign launched by Sharjah Islamic Bank.
Just weeks after opening a savings account with Sharjah Islamic Bank, an Indian expatriate residing in Abu Dhabi won the grand prize of two million dirhams in the millionaire campaign launched by the bank.
The winner, Shajir Venga, 34 years old, opened his account through the Sharjah Islamic Bank digital application and was selected in a lottery held at the main branch of Sharjah International Bank. His victory came within weeks of joining the program, an outcome he said he did not expect despite following the campaign for years.Speaking to Khaleej Times, Venga said he had long hoped to become one of the campaign’s winners after reading about previous award winners. He described the amount of two million dirhams as an amount that will change his life and will help him invest in his future and reunite his family in the United Arab Emirates.
“The prize of two million dirhams will change his life,” Venga said, adding that the money will support plans to bring his family from India to live with him. He also credited the program with turning a long-awaited ambition into reality.The recent drawing produced several other winners. Emirati customer Moza Butti received a BMW XM, while 40 additional participants received cash prizes.Nabil Abu Alwan, Head of Retail Banking at Sharjah Islamic Bank, said that the initiative aims to reward customers and encourage a culture of savings.
He said the program continues to provide clients with opportunities to achieve their personal and financial goals.
About the millionaire campaign
Sharjah Islamic Bank launched the Millionaire in 2025 campaign to encourage customers to build their savings through eligible deposit accounts. The program offers prizes worth more than 20 million dirhams annually, with customers receiving entries in the draw based on the balances in their accounts.According to the bank, the campaign includes major seasonal prizes worth 2 million dirhams, quarterly prizes worth 1 million dirhams, luxury vehicles and hundreds of cash rewards distributed throughout the year.
