India to Bangladesh: We want relations to be people-centred

Dhaka: India on Sunday told the new Bangladesh government that it wants to strengthen people-centred cooperation in all areas, and work together in a positive, constructive and forward-looking manner, based on mutual interests and benefits.The two sides agreed to maintain regular communication to further strengthen bilateral relations, which reached their lowest levels during the 18-month term of the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.Delhi’s message was conveyed to Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and Minister of State for External Affairs Shama Ubaid by Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma. Speaking to reporters, Verma said they look forward to working with Bangladesh in a forward-looking manner.
