An alternative to Bad Bunny’s halftime performance at the Super Bowl, ‘All American Halftime’ hosted by TPUSA has garnered millions of views. While broadcasters confirmed that Bad Bunny clocked more than 160 million views, potentially setting a record, TPUSA halftime viewership caused a row.

Social media estimates initially put the number at around 4.5 million to 6 million views when the show aired. Some far-right commentators suggest that the total number of viewers, including all streams, stands at around 50 million.

Why TPUSA viewership is controversialHowever, the figures have been disputed by many, including popular conservative commentator Candace Owens. It started with an X user who posted a screenshot of the view count on a YouTube stream. By the time the stream ended at around 8:30pm on Sunday, it had clocked around 5,000 views.

Sharing the screenshot, the user wrote, “One thing you can’t fake on YouTube is comments.” “And if you have 5 million live views, you’d expect the view count to be like 15 million by the time it’s over—now. Maybe 60 million after processing. Dear oh dear.”

Candace Owens retweeted the post fueling further speculation about the show’s viewership.

“The problem with people who have a lot of money is that they haven’t earned it, they have no idea how things really work,” writes Owens. “No, that’s not a possible outcome if you really have 5.2 million live viewers. Sorry America, everything is still fake and gay until further notice.”

The TPUSA halftime show was held up by the conservative camp as an alternative to the Puerto Rican singer’s performance, who opposed Bad Bunny’s political views. President Donald Trump endorsed the show and said he would watch it instead of Bad Bunny’s performance.
