Monday (February 2, 2026) Bangladesh court Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was sentenced 10 years in jail in two separate corruption cases related to irregularities in land allocation in a government housing scheme.

Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-4 Judge Rabiul Alam handed down the verdicts, sentencing Ms. Hasina to a total of 10 years in prison — five years in each case, state-run BSS news agency reported.

The court convicted 78-year-old Hasina, her nephew Radwan Mujib Siddique and her daughters-in-law Tulip Rizwana Siddique and Azmina Siddique and others for alleged irregularities in the allotment of land under the Rajuk New Town project in Purbachol.

The verdict was announced around 12.30 pm.

Tulip Siddique was sentenced to four years in prison – two years in each case – while Radwan Mujib Siddique and Azmina Siddique were sentenced to seven years each in both cases.

Rajuk member Mohammad Khurshid Alam, the only accused to surrender before the court, was sentenced to one year in jail in each case, for a total of two years.

The court fined all the convicts TK 1 lakh each and ordered them to undergo an additional six months imprisonment in default of payment.

Ms Hasina has been living in India since fleeing Bangladesh in the wake of massive protests on August 5 last year. She was earlier declared a fugitive woman by the court.
