Iran claims to have successfully targeted a US F-18 fighter jet, and released a video

Video published by Iranian Press TV channel

Iran announced on Wednesday that it had shot down a US fighter jet amid the conflict in the Middle East. Iran’s state-owned Press TV channel shared a video on X showing the apparent incident.

In the clip, a plane (Iran claims it was an American F-18) was “successfully” shot down. While the video was circulating, Iranian media said, “The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announces that it successfully targeted an American F-18 fighter jet.”

This comes just hours after Iran rejected a US proposal for a “ceasefire” and warned that the strikes would continue until its demands were met. Iran rejected the 15-point US proposal, saying any ceasefire would only happen according to its terms and timetable, a senior official told Press TV.

The official added: “Iran says it will end the war when it decides to do so, and not when Trump imagines it will end.”

Iran dictates the endgame: demanding the closure of US bases in the Gulf, the lifting of sanctions, and control of Hormuz

Tehran’s conditions include a halt to attacks, guarantees against any future conflict, compensation for war damage, an end to hostilities on all fronts, and recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Zulfiqari warned: “Do not treat your defeat as if it were an agreement. The era of empty promises is over.”

As for shooting down US planes, Iran also claimed on Sunday that it had intercepted and hit an F-15 fighter jet flying near Hormuz Island. Iran’s Air Defense Command said it intercepted and fired surface-to-air missiles at an enemy fighter plane near the country’s southern coast and around Hormuz Island a few hours ago, and that investigations were underway to determine what happened to the plane, state-linked media reported.
