Abu Dhabi grants 100 million dirhams to enhance preparedness for emergency situations as part of the new edition of the First Line of National Defense Forum

On March 28, the activities of the twenty-sixth session of the First National Defense Line Forum were officially launched in Abu Dhabi. The forum, which was organized by the National System for Unified and Integrated Training for Preparedness and Response, was held under the supervision of the National Medical and Volunteer Reserve Team in the UAE, under the slogan “Together for the preparedness of a nation.”

The event, accredited by the European Center for Disaster Medicine and National Training, attracted wide participation from national medical institutions, ambulance services, civil defense and police, as well as emergency and disaster response authorities.

100 million dirhams in specialized training grants

Under the strategic announcement, a grant worth 100 million dirhams was allocated for specialized training to support first responder capabilities. These internationally accredited programs will cover emergency management, disaster preparedness and major incident response.

It will be delivered in partnership with global organizations including the American Disaster Foundation, the European Center for Disaster Medicine, the American College of Surgeons, and leading organizations in the United Kingdom. It is mandatory under national regulatory directives.

The first for Abu Dhabi

Professor Roberto Mogavero, President of the European Center for Disaster Medicine, announced the official accreditation of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as the first licensed center for emergency and disaster medical training in the Middle East and North Africa region.

He added that Abu Dhabi has strengthened its position as a regional and international center for developing training curricula, developing simulation-based programs, and integrating artificial intelligence techniques into training.

The 26th session of the National Forum for the First Line of Defense

The launch of the 26th session of the forum reflects a strategic national vision to enhance the country’s readiness and build a comprehensive response system. With ongoing regional tensions and the escalating war between Iran, the United States, and Israel, Middle Eastern countries are preparing for emergency preparedness in all sectors to ensure safety and preparedness. Dr. Adel Al-Shammari Al-Ajmi, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, Chairman of the Emirates Doctors Initiative, and Head of the National Preparedness and Response Programme, stressed that the heroes of the first line of defense represent the backbone of national health security. He added that investing in their training and empowerment is a direct investment in protecting society. The forum also honored the heroes of the first line of defence, including the distinguished national professionals who contributed to the design and management of specialized training programs.

Training institutions, certified trainers, and reserve and volunteer medical teams were also honored for their role in supporting health care institutions and society locally and internationally.Al-Ajmi pointed out that the forum is the result of an organized national effort to build an integrated training system that brings together the governmental, private and non-profit sectors through strategic partnerships.The forum is in line with the national vision of the United Arab Emirates to create a unified and integrated field management system at the operational level, combining theoretical education, practical application and high-fidelity simulation. It also enhances cooperation between the healthcare, security and services sectors.
