Hollywood star Elisha Cuthbert has sold her Los Angeles home for $1.93 million after several attempts to find a buyer over the past year. The sale was completed just days after the property returned to the market with another price reduction.Canadian actress, best known for her roles in… 24Old School and House of Wax first listed the home for sale in July 2025 with an asking price of $3.13 million. According to Realtor.com, over the following months, the asking price was lowered several times as the property moved on and off the market. After the home was relisted on June 25 for $2.095 million, about $254,000 less than its previous asking price of $2.349 million, real estate records show it underwent a contingency offer within days, and the sale has now officially closed at $1.93 million.Although the final sale price was significantly lower than her original asking price, Cuthbert made a profit on the property. She bought the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in 2005 for $1.6 million, when her acting career was at its peak.
Sales attempts
Cuthbert’s efforts to abandon the house extended over several years. After taking a break from acting to focus on her family, she first tried renting out the property instead of selling it.
In 2022, the same year she stopped regular acting work, she listed the house for rent at $12,500 per month. The property was repeatedly listed on and removed from the rental market over the next few years. In July 2025, she decided to sell the house instead and put it on the market for just over $3.1 million. However, the property was removed from sale by November of that year without a buyer being found. It returned to the market in March 2026 with a lower asking price of around $2.3 million but was withdrawn again just a few weeks later.
The recent relisting in June finally resulted in a successful sale.

Home renovation
The property appears to have been updated prior to its most recent listing. New photos released with the sale showed a redesigned interior with a more neutral and modern look than previous listing photos.“The traditional storybook home is set among lush tropical greenery and offers warmth, character and easy access to the famous Chateau Marmont, just moments away,” according to the listing by Patrick Fogarty of Carolwood Estates. The house features a traditional exterior and an open-plan interior. The main living area has high ceilings and opens directly to the outdoor space, creating a bright and spacious design. The kitchen includes a center island, modern appliances and ample storage space. Adjacent is a dining area with contemporary lighting and enough space for a large dining table. The primary bedroom has French doors that open to a balcony.
The attached bathroom includes a double vanity and a glass-enclosed shower.Outside, the property has several seating areas designed for entertaining guests. It also has a wood-burning oven. The listing described the home as “a charming retreat in a desirable location with inviting outdoor retreats and a peek into downtown Los Angeles.”
Focus on family
Cuthbert has never publicly explained why she decided to sell the Los Angeles property.
However, she is known to spend most of her time in Canada, where she owns a waterfront property on Prince Edward Island with her husband, former NHL player Dion Phaneuf. The couple has two children, daughter Zephyr, 9, and son Fabel, 4.Earlier this year, Cuthbert spoke about why she decided to step away from acting for several years. During an appearance on the Today show, she said that becoming a mother has changed her priorities.
“I realized I had worked all four years for our first child, and it was really hard,” she said.“So, when we got the second one, I felt like I didn’t want to waste any second of it, and I didn’t want to be on set. I just felt like I needed to be home with the kids, and I enjoyed every minute,” she added. She also said that returning to acting was not appropriate until after both children started school. “They are in school full time now,” she said.
“I feel like I have the space, energy and heart to let go and do this.”Cuthbert recently returned to television with the Prime Video series Every Year After, which premiered on June 10. The show marks her first major acting project since 2022.She began her career as a child model before making her acting debut in 1996 as an extra in the film Are You Afraid of the Dark? She became a regular cast member in 1999.
