Dramatic video of Indian conman Yog P Chauhan drinking soda before being arrested by undercover agents in Michigan

Yog Chauhan was casually sipping a soda when an undercover agent went to meet him posing as an elderly woman in Michigan.

The video showing the dramatic arrest of an Indian fraudster by the Michigan Police Bureau has now been released. The case was interesting as the fraudster was tricked by the cops and an alert shop owner foiled the attempt to defraud an elderly woman.

A policewoman went to meet the courier, Yog P Chauhan, to deliver the box of gold coins, even though there were gold chocolate coins inside the box. The video revealed how the policeman was talking to another person, perhaps the person who did the calling part of the scam on the woman, to check something – and then, when she got out of the car still pretending to be an old woman, she surprised the courier Chauhan. Chauhan, as seen in the video, was accidentally drinking a soda, and was shocked when he realized that these were policemen.

The courier had no idea that he was being scammed and was just seeing here and there when the policewoman got out of the car with the box in her hand. She kept the box and her phone inside the car and held Chauhan’s hand from behind when another agent entered and pushed Chauhan inside the car.The arrest was made in May after a 79-year-old Michigan widow was so brainwashed for days into misusing her Social Security funds for terrorist purposes that she was forced to buy $700,000 worth of gold coins and give them to scammers who posed as government officials.

The woman went to a store to buy gold but the alert store owner realized something was wrong because the woman was in a hurry and was not interested in the gold she was buying.

The store owner notified the sheriff’s office to be on the safe side. Cops visited the woman and then decided to go ahead with the crooks’ plan – but instead of the elderly woman, undercover agents were sent to meet the courier. After his arrest, Yog said he never met the man who gave him instructions over the phone and was just a courier. The Sheriff’s Office released a list of red flags that indicate something may be a scam:

  • Demands for immediate payment
  • Pressure to act immediately or keep a secret
  • Payment requests through gift cards, cryptocurrencies, bank transfers, prepaid debit cards, or systems like Venmo, Zelle, and Cash App
  • The caller claims to be law enforcement, your bank, Social Security, the Internal Revenue Service, Amazon, Microsoft, or Apple
  • Threats of arrest, imprisonment, suspension of accounts, or closure of facilities
  • Unexpected texts or emails containing links
  • Remote access requests to your phone or computer
  • Awards, jobs or offers are “too good to be true”.
  • Requests for money from someone you met online
  • Scam phone numbers, weird words, or bad grammar
  • Refuse to allow you to comment or verify information
