A massive police response is underway at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami-Dade County, Florida amid reports of a shooting and possible active shooter situation.

representative. (unsplash)The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed whether a shooting has occurred, but said the school is on a precautionary lockdown. CBS Miami reports that other schools in the area have also been placed on precautionary lockdown. Among them was St. Brendan Elementary, NBC South Florida confirmed.

According to local media reports, police responded to reports of a possibly armed suspect near the school. Multiple police units arrived as schools were placed on lockdown as police canvassed campuses.

So far, there is no confirmation of the shooting or a possible armed suspect as police wait to confirm if it was a hoax.

No injuries have been reported so far.

Christopher Columbus High School is located on 87th Avenue in Miami.
