Chirayu Rana used legal chatbot for advice ahead of sexual harassment allegation against JPMorgan CEO Lorna Hajdini: 'Do I have a valid claim?'

A former JPMorgan employee who accused a senior executive of sexual harassment received advice from an online legal chat show while describing similar allegations, according to reports from the New York Post.Shirayu Rana, of Indian origin, whose now-withdrawn lawsuit alleged that CEO Lorna Haydeni forced him to perform degrading sexual acts, is said to have used the legal advice platform AskALawyerOnCall.com around July 2024, roughly 10 months before his allegations were published. In the exchange, the user identified as Rana described sexual assault and retaliation in the workplace.“I was raped and sexually harassed [sic]“I was harassed and forced to use drugs by my former boss at Morgan Stanley,” the text quoted him as saying.“I was then retaliated against because I sought to move the groups internally at the company,” he added. He claimed: “HR conducted an ‘investigation’ but in the end they made me sign [sic] Separation agreement.”The chatbot interaction was posted in screenshots cited by the New York Post. The video shows Rana later referring to the perpetrator as “he,” a detail that contradicts the lawsuit he later filed against Haydini, an executive at JPMorgan Chase.

The platform publicly displayed the exchange as an example of its service, including the username. A disclaimer on the site noted that Askalawyeroncall.com is a public forum and that questions and responses are not private or confidential. In the same conversation, the user described signing the separation agreement under pressure and claimed he was threatened.“Yes, but I was forced to sign under duress,” he allegedly wrote, adding that he had “sufficient evidence” of wrongdoing. The exchange continued with the chatbot being asked if its agreement included clauses preventing legal action. Rana allegedly repeated that he was coerced, saying: “I signed it because I was afraid and felt like I had no choice. He said he would ruin my career if I didn’t comply.”According to the transcript, he also said: “I’ve been struggling mentally ever since. It was a terrible experience, and I left under terrible circumstances.

He told everyone a false story about me, which made it even more difficult. At one point, the chatbot response indicated a different timeline, suggesting that the alleged events may have occurred in 2020, which was clearly not consistent with Rana’s account.“Since this happened in 2020, you may still have options. Have you considered filing a workers’ compensation claim?” The chatbot responded.Rana allegedly responded, “I haven’t thought about it. I just feel stuck because I signed this waiver,” and added, “It seems like everyone is refusing to help me because of that.”He also reportedly asked if he had a valid legal case and if any lawyer would take up the case.“Do you think I actually have a valid claim?” and “Do you know anyone who might take my case?” He allegedly asked. The NYP report notes that Rana was linked in the exchange to a user known as “Joycelaw,” who claimed to be a legal expert in labor and business law.The Chatbot interaction is similar to Rana’s formal internal complaint at JPMorgan, which was filed in May 2025.

JPMorgan later completed an internal review including phone records, emails and employee interviews, and said there was no evidence to support its claims.Rana is a graduate of Rutgers University and joined the leveraged finance team at JP Morgan in 2024. He later filed a lawsuit accusing Heidini of forcing him to perform sex acts, drugging him, and threatening his career if he did not comply. The complaint also alleged that he made unannounced visits to his home and forced him to have sex.The lawsuit was filed under an alias (John Doe) and has since been withdrawn for corrections. Heidini and her legal team have denied all of these accusations.
