Olivia Munn and John Mulaney They now have two proud children. The couple welcomed their second child, a daughter May June Mulaneyvia surrogate on September 14, 2024. She joins their son, Malcolm Heap MullaneyWho was born in November 2021.

While their daughter’s arrival was a joyful milestone, the past few years have also been difficult for Moon. In March 2024, she revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent multiple procedures, including a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy, as part of her treatment.

Amid all this, the couple – who started dating in 2021 – quietly tied the knot in July 2024 during an intimate ceremony in New York. According to a source to PEOPLE, the only attendees were their son Malcolm and a witness to sign their marriage license.

Here’s everything to know about the proud parents’ two kids, Malcolm and May.

Malcolm Heap Mullaney

The couple’s first child was born on November 24, 2021. Mulaney shared the news on Instagram, writing: “Meet Malcolm Heap Mulaney. He has his whole life ahead of him. He hasn’t even tried soda yet. I love him so much and his whole deal. Happy holidays.”

Munn also shared an Instagram post welcoming their son, captioning it: “My golden bull baby. Malcolm Heep Mulaney. Happy holidays. ❤️💚”

Moon later explained in an Instagram story that Malcolm’s name holds special significance. When Malcolm was five months old, she introduced him to his great uncle, Vinh Hiep Longwhich she named after him. “Malcolm met his great uncle. His middle name is named after him 💛,” Munn shared, referring to her uncle as her “favorite.” “Whenever we got a new belt in taekwondo, he would buy us bananas and tell us not to tell our mother,” she recalled.

The proud parents often share Malcolm’s achievements on social media, celebrating everything from his words and first steps to a particularly exciting moment – his first appearance at the restaurant. “You’re crazy. Malcolm is going to his first restaurant,” Munn captioned an Instagram post showing her toddler sitting on her lap while enjoying pho. Other photos included Mulaney and Moon’s mother, Kim Moonto take a group photo with Malcolm.

Mulaney announced that he and Moon were expecting Malcolm during their appearance Late Night with Seth Meyers in September 2021. “I got into this relationship that was really beautiful with an incredible person…and we’re going to have a baby together,” he told the host. Seth Meyers at that time.

He also expressed his gratitude, saying, “Olivia and this baby helped save me from myself on this early journey of recovery.” Mulaney had checked himself into rehab in late 2020 after a long struggle with addiction.

The couple’s second child was born via surrogate on September 14, 2024. “Mi June Mulaney came into the world on September 14, 2024, the Year of the Dragon,” Moon shared in her September 22 Instagram post.

“I had so many deep feelings about not being able to hold my daughter. When I first met my surrogate, we talked mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding; I knew I had found a true angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for nine months and made our dreams come true.”

Moon also revealed the meaning behind her daughter’s name: “I’m so proud of my little plum, my little dragon who made the journey to be with us. My heart exploded.” “Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese 梅💜,” she explained.

In an interview with Vogue magazineMunn discussed her experience with fertility, mentioning that she froze her eggs three times — at ages 33, 39 and 42 — after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She expressed her openness to using a surrogate and her desire to continue growing her family.

“When you’re pregnant with your baby, it’s like teamwork — you and the baby are working together to make their little lives happen,” she said. “With a surrogate, you have to find someone you trust just as much as you do to live their life as a pregnant woman the same way you do.”

“This trip has made me realize how grateful I am to have options to not only fight cancer but also to have more children if we want, because I know a lot of people don’t have those options,” she added.
