In a video shared on X, Laitsch said he was fired about three weeks ago and hinted that his resignation was likely connected to his “questioning the narrative” surrounding the death of former TPUSA CEO Charlie Kirk.
In the roughly 12-minute clip, Laitsch says he’s “grateful for the opportunities” at TPUSA, but can’t keep quiet about the uncomfortable work environment and disagreements with the organization’s leadership under CEO Erica Kirk.
After her husband Charlie Kirk was killed Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University, Erica was named CEO.

“It’s just been go, go, go for almost the last six months with no overcompensation, no breaks.”Laitsch told the audience that he was terminated after five years with TPUSA. He said the decision was taken out of a dispute over reports on internal attitudes towards the top leadership.
He detailed that an executive at TPUSA was told by an Uber driver that his daughter’s friend, Aubrey Laitsch, criticized Erika Kirk and the organization’s direction.
“I hear the company is really going downhill. There’s really no direction, and nobody likes Erica,” the Uber driver apparently told the TPUSA executive.
Laitsch denied these allegations.
“I was a little surprised because number one, I wasn’t really friends with anyone in high school, and a lot of it had to do with my political beliefs,” Lightshaw said.
Laitsch said he has known Erica Kirk since 2013, adding that the narrative doesn’t match his feelings about her at the time. He added that they participated in the competition at the same time.

“I just have a gut feeling that I’ve been left out of the turning point because . . .”Laitsch also said he believes he was fired because he challenged Kirk’s story of the murder.
He said, “I feel like I’ve been left out of the turning point because I’m questioning my role model and CEO, Charlie Kirk’s account of what happened on the day of his murder.”
He said he was exercising his freedom of speech by posting the video and sharing his experience “as an American citizen.”
“I have a lot of concerns and a lot of questions about what happened that day and the events leading up to that day,” Lightshaw said
He criticized the organization, saying, “You can’t question the narrative and work on the turning point. That’s how I feel. So do other people I’ve talked to. It goes against everything Charlie stands for.”
