The Iranian conflict has continued since the United States and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury on February 28. Since then, tensions have escalated sharply across the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Persian Gulf region, with an almost complete disruption of oil shipments and frequent naval confrontations. In the latest developments, US President Donald Trump ordered military action against Iranian small boats and intensified mine clearance operations in the strait, which increased fears of escalation. The US also seized another tanker linked to Iranian oil smuggling, while Iran reportedly seized two cargo ships in retaliation, deepening maritime chaos in the region. Diplomatic efforts remain fragile, with Trump announcing a temporary extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah after talks at the White House, even as hostilities continue. At the same time, Iran asserts that its leadership is united despite US claims of internal divisions.
