The new public clash between Candace Owens and Andrew Colvitt has added another chapter to the growing dispute over the legacy of the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. The X controversy unfolded during a sensitive period, with legal proceedings involving Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Kirk in September 2025, continuing to attract attention.

What started as a disagreement over Kirk’s relationship with Owens quickly escalated into personal attacks, with Owens accusing Colvet of lying about her friendship with Kirk and bluntly telling him: “You’re a clown.” The exchange once again revealed deep divisions within conservative circles.

Candace Owens rejects Andrew Colvitt’s claim about friendship with Charlie Kirk

The latest controversy started after Colvet, a spokesperson and producer for Turning Point USA Charlie Kirk Showsuggested that Kirk was simply finding ways to “calm down” Owens during their conversations.

According to Owens, this explanation contradicts previous claims from critics who argued that Kirk barely spoke to her.In a lengthy response to X, Owens responded forcefully. “At first it was like, ‘Charlie never talked to her!’” she wrote. He was scared!” Now it was okay that they talked and texted a lot but Charlie was being fake and trying to appease her.She then referenced personal moments she shared with Kirk, saying he sent her photos after his children were born and reached out to her during difficult family situations.

“So, to be clear, Charlie sent me pictures of him, his son, and his daughter in the hospital after giving birth because he was looking for things to comfort me,” Owens wrote. She continued: “All that personal stuff just to please me? You’re a clown.”The conservative commentator also accused Colvet of damaging Kirk’s reputation. “You have tried, but have utterly failed to accomplish anything today other than exposing yourself as a routine liar who gladly distorts Charlie’s legacy to serve your own financial interests,” she wrote.Owens ended her letter by directly defending her relationship with Kirk: “Charlie and I have always been friends and have never stopped talking and have always had each other’s backs. You are powerless to take that back.”

Andrew Colvet and allies and critics of TPUSA push back as tensions rise

The dispute goes beyond a simple social media exchange. Since Kirk’s death, Owens has repeatedly argued that she remained close to him and has cited private messages, videos and public comments as evidence. Supporters shared old clips in which Kirk called Owens a friend and praised her work.On the other hand, Colvet and many TPUSA supporters questioned Owens’ portrayal of that relationship. Critics accused her of using Kirk’s death and the controversy surrounding it to promote theories about what happened and to draw attention to the story. Some also pointed to past feuds between Owens and figures within the organization. The discussion has now expanded into larger arguments about loyalty, donor influence, issues related to Israel, and the future direction of TPUSA after Kirk’s death. While Owens says she is defending what she believes is Kirk’s true position and legacy, her critics say she is creating further division within the conservative movement. At the moment, neither side seems willing to back down. As the legal proceedings surrounding Robinson’s case continue, the battle over Charlie Kirk’s memory remains as heated online as it is politically.
