Now a serious legal battle has begun, and it’s pulling big names into the spotlight. Brian Harpole, who handled security for Charlie Kirk, filed a defamation suit against Candace Owens.
The case relates to allegations made by Owens after Kirk’s murder. According to the complaint, Harpole is accused of being connected to the incident through her podcast and social media posts. The lawsuit was shared publicly by Harpole’s attorney, Matt Sarelson, on X. It is clear that Harpole and his company had no role in the murder. She also says they had no prior knowledge and were not negligent in any way. However, Owens continued to talk about a possible conspiracy, which is now the focus of this legal dispute.
Brian Harpole says Candace Owens spread false claims about Charlie Kirk case despite records showing otherwise
The complaint explains how things started. Shortly after Charlie Kirk’s death, Owens began sharing theories online. She indicated that people close to him may have betrayed him. She also spoke of a possible government cover-up. Over time, these claims became more direct. Harpole says Owens started pointing at him.In a December 9, 2025 podcast episode, Owens told her audience: “Well, what I’m going to tell you guys today is going to positively blow your mind.”
She said she received “reliable” information from someone she later identified as Mitch Snow. This person claimed that Harpole was seen at a meeting with military officials a day before the killing. But the lawsuit strongly rejects this. It states that Harpole was in Dallas, Texas at the time. His travel records support this. He also says he has never been to Fort Huachuca. Despite this, Owens continued to repeat this claim. She said the advice was “very credible,” but did not explain why.The situation became more tense when Owens contacted Harpole directly. I asked him for a private conversation. When he didn’t respond, she spoke about his silence on her podcast. She suggested it looked suspicious. This made matters worse and further damaged his reputation, the suit says. One key detail stands out. Owens later posted on X that she had indeed seen Harpole’s flight logs. This is important because it shows that she may have known that he was not present at that meeting.
Even then, she continued to talk about the allegation. Harpole’s legal team says this shows a “reckless disregard for the truth”, which is a key part of defamation law. Now, the case includes six legal charges and seeks millions in damages. A jury trial has been requested. On her show, Owens attempted to walk back some of the claims and suggested their source may have been wrong. For now, the court will decide what actually happened behind these allegations.
