Hillary Clinton has halted her testimony about Jeffrey Epstein after her photo was leaked from the House Oversight Committee to conservative commentator Bennie Johnson through Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert.
A possible breach of the rules has been described by the taking and leaking of a photo of the former Foreign Secretary while she was giving evidence. “The hearing became informal for a moment, which was against the chamber rules that were read at the beginning of the meeting,” a Clinton staffer told reporters.Oversight staff are seeking to find out “where the photo came from” and “why members of Congress are violating House rules,” the staffer said.Boebert defended taking the unauthorized photo of Hillary, and said that Penny did nothing wrong by posting it. “Benny did nothing wrong. Follow the statement,” Boebert said on her X account.“This is crazy. The testimony is being filmed. Hillary wanted it to be done live on TV. The entire testimony will be released soon. Rep. Boebert has given me permission to post a photo with credit. Hillary is trying to get away from answering questions about Epstein because of a photo!?!” Penny publishing.
There is no new information about Epstein: he never traveled on his plane, and he never visited his island
Hillary Clinton told passengers she had no new information about Epstein and his co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell. “I had no idea of their criminal activities. I do not recall ever meeting Mr. Epstein. I did not fly on his plane or visit his home or offices on the island,” she said in her opening statement on X and delivered during a closed hearing with lawmakers.“[Y]You forced me to testify, knowing full well that I had no knowledge that would aid your investigation.
In order to divert attention from the president [Donald] “Trump’s actions and cover-ups despite legitimate calls for answers,” she wrote in the statement.“If this committee were serious about getting to the bottom of Epstein’s trafficking crimes, it would not rely on the media to get answers from our current president about his involvement; rather, it would ask him directly under oath about the tens of thousands of times he appeared in Epstein’s files,” the statement said. The interview took place in Chappaqua, New York, where the Clinton family has a home. The committee is scheduled to meet with former President Bill Clinton on Friday to obtain similar testimony.
