A video of an Indian couple facing a random racist attack has gone viral in the US.
A video has gone viral from the US, in which a stranger asked an Indian couple, most likely in his car, if they were Indian, and then asked them to return to India. The date and location of the video have not been confirmed, but several people of Indian origin and NRI channels shared the video and pointed out what Indians have to face in the US on a daily basis. In this video, the stranger asked the Indian couple whether India is better than the United States or vice versa. The couple was nice enough to continue the interaction, and as the husband was explaining that their family was in India, the stranger asked them why they were in the United States if India was so good. “To explore the world,” said the husband.“No, we don’t want you here,” the stranger said. “You should go home.” “Get the fuck out of my country,” the stranger was abused as the Indian man did not react much.
Sharing the video, NRI wrote: “Heartbreaking and disturbing.”Many people commented that the Indian couple did not lose their calm and did not engage in hate exchanges. However, many described this courtesy as the reason why Indians were targeted. One wrote: “Why do we remain silent and ignorant? This permissive attitude makes us more vulnerable. Start being tougher and more aggressive about racism.”
“This type of incident exists in the real world in North Texas. If this happens to you or someone you know or in your vicinity – report it to the authorities. Record the hate incident on your part and turn it over to the cops. Inaction encourages bullies!!” another wrote. One user said: “This is so stupid. What’s the point of abusing random strangers? Your government has issued a visa to these people. If you have a problem with them visiting or staying there, deal with the people who let them in.”Many X users tagged Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the video that went viral as on his trip to India, where Rubio said stupid people make such racist comments online. “I don’t know how to deal with that, but I’ll take that seriously in terms of comments. I’m sure there are people who have made comments online and in other places.” “Every country in the world has stupid people. I’m sure there are stupid people here. There are stupid people in the United States who make stupid comments all the time.
“I don’t know what to tell you other than that the United States is a very hospitable country,” Rubio said.
Who is the man behind the new wave of anti-India videos?
Under the wave of anti-Indian sentiment, many influential people began targeting Indians wherever they spotted them. This particular video was posted by a social media account (@AyTone4th) who called himself a music producer. He recently walked into an Indian restaurant and asked for “cow poo.”
