An Indian student dies in the United States after saving three of his friends from drowning.
A few weeks after his graduation, Indian student Anurup Reddy Kuduru lost his life by drowning in the Toledo Bend Reservoir, located between Texas and Louisiana. Reddy was a strong swimmer, and he jumped into the water when he saw three of his friends drowning.
He saved them all, but his feet got tangled in the fishing wire. The current pulled him into the creek and he was found 20 feet below, lifeless. The accident occurred on May 29. His brother Ashtrith Reddy Kuduru created a fundraising campaign seeking help to transport Reddy’s body to India and for his last rites.“We are absolutely devastated, and our immediate priority is to transport his body from the United States back home to our parents and family in India.
The family said the cost of international repatriation, legal documents and transportation is incredibly high.Reddy was a student at the University of North Texas and graduated just a few weeks ago.The local sheriff’s office issued a statement about the death without revealing his identity. “Sheriff Aaron Mitchell unfortunately reported the drowning of a 22-year-old man in Denton, Texas this afternoon, Friday, May 29, 2026.
