AI War and Hacked Handles Videos: X Product Lead Nikita Pierre Reveals 31-Account Operation

A man based in Pakistan ran at least 31 accounts on X, which were sharing AI-generated war videos, according to Nikita Peer, the platform’s head of product development. In a post on Wednesday, Pierre said the accounts had been hacked and renamed on February 27 to different versions of “Iran War Watch.”

The network posted AI-generated clips linked to the ongoing conflict.

“We’re getting much faster at figuring this out — and also eliminating the incentive to do so,” Pierre wrote, adding that the operator was trying to take advantage of X’s creator revenue sharing program.

Not only were the accounts impersonating Iran-linked observers, but they were also multiple profiles of the “IDF girl,” which Pierre said were also run from Pakistan.

In response, X announced stricter rules. Users who post AI-generated armed conflict videos without clearly disclosing that they were made with AI will be suspended from the Creator Revenue Sharing Program for 90 days. Repeated violations will result in permanent removal from the monetization system. This case comes amid the Iran war. While the United States, Israel and Iran are launching attacks on each other, there are many users on X who are spreading fake news and rumours.

Concerns about misinformation on the platform, especially accounts originating from countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh that mimic legitimate users elsewhere. In November 2025, X introduced an “About this Account” feature that revealed that many accounts posting political content about India were actually operating from outside the country.Pierre also pointed to another account claiming to be a journalist in Gaza that was found to be sharing AI-generated material. Under X’s monetization rules, creators must subscribe to X Premium, have at least 500 Premium followers, generate around five million impressions over three months and complete identity verification. Because payments are made in US dollars, users in countries where the dollar is more valuable may be incentivized to produce exciting content designed to go viral.
