White House Religious Advisor Paula White is currently facing widespread online scrutiny over her recent songs praising the US President. Donald Trump on Wednesday hosted an Easter event at the White House with evangelical groups.
During one portion of the special event, Pastor Paula White Cain was invited to address the gathering where she ended up comparing the 79-year-old leader to Jesus Christ. According to White Cain, both Jesus and Trump were “betrayed, arrested, and falsely accused.” “It’s a familiar pattern that our Lord and Savior showed us,” she said.“Jesus taught us many lessons through his death, burial and resurrection.
“He showed us great leadership through sacrifices,” she added, adding that similarly, Trump paid the price like “no one else has paid,” and it almost cost him his life. “Sir, because of his resurrection, I have risen. And because he was victorious, you are victorious,” White-Kin said while adding, “Sir, I believe the Lord has said this to you, because of his victory, you will be victorious in everything you put your hand to.”
While Wyatt Cain’s speech may have received a standing ovation from the MAGA crowd at the White House, it also sparked outrage from followers of religion and Christ online around the world.
“When Paula White says no one has paid the price like you, that’s not doctrine, that’s sycophancy on steroids. Easter is about spiritual redemption, not political branding. If every leader facing backlash starts claiming a messianic arc, history will look like a parody of Sunday school. Faith is sacred. Turning it into a campaign during a White House lunch is not divine. It’s a play,” one user wrote on X. Another said: “This is absolutely despicable for anyone who believes in the Bible.”The statement also received criticism from many priests, pastors and political strategists who criticized White for comparing a political leader to God. “Blasphemy,” Rich Raho, a Catholic theologian, wrote on X. He added: “It is amazing to see an American bishop standing there on stage while Paula White compares Trump to Jesus Christ.“Freaks, liars, charlatans, con artists, criminals — anything but Christians. All of them,” political strategist Jeff Timmer posted on X.The White House spiritual advisor is not new to controversy. Earlier, in March 2026, she urged her followers to donate “the first tenth of your gross income” to support her ministry and its causes, including funding projects in Israel, which confront online trolling. In February 2026, she urged attendees at her conference to offer a “sacrificial seed” to support the ministry of her friend Eddie James, asking everyone to donate $1,000.
She said: “If I say: I don’t have it, give me $100. And bring a seed for sacrifice.” Wyatt Cain, a televangelist, was named Trump’s special advisor for the Faith and Opportunity Initiative, a position created within the White House Office of Public Liaison in 2019. Her relationship with Trump dates back to 2002 when she became his spiritual advisor. In 2017, she said the invocation at his inauguration, becoming the first member of the clergy to do so.
