Both MAGA and the Indian-American community are celebrating Abraham George’s defeat in the Texas GOP election.
The first American Indian Chairman of the Texas Republican Party, Abraham George, lost re-election to Drinda Randall. However, the reactions to his loss were shocking as both MAGA and the Indian-American community cheered his exit.
MAGA celebrated the defeat of an individual of Indian descent, while the Indian-American community said it always looks the other way whenever Indians in Texas face racism.“Although this race has come to an end, our mission continues. Now is the time to come together, unite behind our Republican candidates, support the entire Republican ticket in November, advance our legislative priorities in the upcoming session, and continue to stand firm for the conservative principles outlined in our platform,” Abraham George posted on X as he conceded defeat.
“I am grateful to everyone who supported our campaign, and I will remain committed to serving our party and fighting for the values that make Texas strong.
“
George, a Christian from India, spoke out against the H-1B visa program and against Hindu temples in Texas. However, the Republican Party did not consider him a member of its party. “He joined the same Paxton political machine that looked the other way as anti-Indian racism became prevalent in Texas politics.
So yeah, I’m glad he lost. “Public life has consequences,” Siddharth, co-founder of the American Indian Defense Council, said on X.“Abraham George, the Indian sex scourge who runs the Texas Republican Party, has been fired in favor of a white woman.I was impressed by the speed with which Texans began to clear their state of Indian invaders. DEI: Deport every Indian,” wrote commentator Matt Forney, known for his anti-India attacks.
“A living example of the American dream”: Who is Abraham George?
Calling himself a living example of the American dream, George was born in Kerala, India, and grew up there until the age of sixteen, when he came to the United States to join his extended family here.
He started out working odd jobs in the US and then worked his way up in sales, IT and management. He joined politics when Barack Obama ran for president in 2007, with Abraham strongly opposing his socialist policies. He served as Chairman of the Collin County Republican Party and, in 2024, became Chairman of the Texas Republican Party. During the 2024 presidential race, reports emerged about a 2023 local incident in which police were called to George’s home after he attempted to leave with a loaded gun to confront a man suspected of having an affair with his wife. According to police records, no shots were fired, no injuries occurred, and George was never arrested or charged.
George and his wife later described the report as a political smear.
