A US Navy MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter made an emergency landing in waters in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday, and one crew member remains missing as search operations continue, US Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) said.In a statement published on“There is no indication that the state of emergency was due to a hostile act,” the command said, amid escalating regional tensions in the wake of the recent US-Iranian conflict.

According to NAVCENT, three of the helicopter’s four crew members were rescued and are in stable condition aboard the USS George HW Bush.

US Navy assets deployed in the area continue searches for the fourth crew member who is still missing. The cause of the accident is currently being investigated. The state of emergency comes days after a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran that helped ease fears of a broader regional conflict. The truce led to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a decline in global oil prices, providing temporary relief to energy markets.

But analysts quoted by Reuters warned that the ceasefire may be tactical and not permanent. Longstanding disputes over Iran’s nuclear program, regional influence and US sanctions remain unresolved, although both sides have agreed to hold talks within the next 60 days. While markets have responded positively for now, uncertainty about how long the truce will last remains.
