124 drones shot down and civilians killed: cross-border attacks escalate between Russia and Ukraine

There were casualties on both sides of the Russian-Ukrainian border after drone attacks

Civilians were killed on both sides of the Russian-Ukrainian border over the weekend as drone and artillery attacks intensified, local officials said.In Russia’s Bryansk region, a Ukrainian drone struck a car near the border, killing two people, the acting governor of the region said.

The Ministry of Defense said that Russian air defenses intercepted 124 Ukrainian drones in multiple regions within 12 hours.In Ukraine, Russian bombing and drone attacks killed one person and injured another near Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In Russian-controlled parts of the Donetsk region, two people were killed in Ukrainian drone strikes in Horlivka and Makevka.In the northern Sumy region, a 66-year-old man was killed when a Russian drone bombed his house.

In Zaporizhia, nine people, including two children, were injured in night attacks that partially destroyed a residential building.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian forces bombed the Titan-Barikady facility in Volgograd, a large industrial complex in which Russia produces artillery and missile components.In Russia’s Rostov region, a Ukrainian drone struck a World War II museum, wounding 12 people.

The Ukrainian Security Service also announced a drone strike on an oil pumping station east of Moscow, describing it as essential for the capital’s fuel supply.Separately, a Ukrainian drone airstrike in Russia’s Krasnodar region killed one person and injured another, setting an oil refinery on fire and damaging a power line and gas pipeline. Russian officials said 213 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over the weekend.
