“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is gearing up for release, and actress Zendaya has already warned fans of the heartbreak that’s in store. The actors who play MJ in the superhero series, opposite Peter Parker, Tom Holland, have spoken candidly about the character’s “painful” breakup, following the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
As the new film picks up, Peter asks Doctor Strange for a spell to make the world forget he’s Spider-Man.
As a result, besides being forgotten by the general public, even his close friends like MJ and Ned Leeds do not remember their time together as close friends.
According to new details revealed by Empire, MJ has moved on and is involved with a new romantic interest, played by Ahsoka actor Eman Esfandi, while Peter is forced to watch from the sidelines.
Reflecting on the story, Zendaya admitted that even she found the situation emotionally difficult. “As someone who cares about the characters and cares about these movies, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, this is so heartbreaking.’” “You feel so bad because you want them to be happy, and you know in the end they’ll be happier together,” she added. With the romance put aside due to amnesia, Zendaya explained that it helped form a whole new dynamic between the two characters.
“It’s kind of easy, because I don’t have to play and I know this person. I don’t have to play with all the history they have together because apparently, they don’t.”Even though MJ no longer remembers Peter Parker, she still knows Spider-Man. The trailer teased a scene at Ned’s house party, where he and MJ introduce Peter Parker to their Spidey pad and point out that they were trying to identify Spider-Man and find his location.Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, “Brand New Day,” also starring Jon Bernthal, Kevin Feige, Destin Daniel Cretton and Amy Pasca, is scheduled to hit theaters on July 29.
