Defying earlier expectations of its streaming debut, Alia Bhatt and Sharwari’s exciting new film Alpha is all set to hit the big screen. The final scenes are currently being completed, and the premiere in cinemas is scheduled for April this year. This monumental project is set to be a key female-led film in the famous spy series.

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari starring in Alpha has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced. The film was scheduled to hit theaters in December 2025; however, it was pushed. Soon, rumors of a direct OTT release of the film started doing the rounds on the internet.

Now, according to a latest report, the female-led spy actioner will only be released in theaters, contrary to speculations of an OTT premiere. Let’s learn more about it.

Alia Bhatt’s Alpha will hit theaters

According to a report in India Today, Alia Bhatt and Sharwari starrer Alpha will hit the theaters in April this year. A source told the publication that the film is set for theatrical release and the team is currently finalizing the final shooting schedule.

According to the report, the shooting of the spy movie is going on as planned.The report also stated that the film was made to be enjoyed at the cinema and hence it will release in theaters as planned. The clarification comes after rumors of a direct-to-OTT release and massive buzz surrounding the film.

The film was originally supposed to be released in August last year. However, the producers planned to release it in December 2025; however, it was pushed further.

The production house said that the team is working on the film’s VFX, hence the delay. A statement from the makers said, “VFX Alpha needs more time to present the film to the audience at its visual best.”Speaking about the film at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah last year, Deadline quoted Alia Bhatt as saying, “‘Alpha’ is the first female-led action film from the YRF universe, so it’s also a risk because historically you haven’t seen it look like other male-led films.”The film will be the first female-led spy film in the Aditya Chopra-backed spy universe. Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha stars Alia Bhatt, Sharwari and Bobby Deol.
