After successfully orbiting the Moon, the Artemis II crew returns home! Astronauts Reed Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen It is scheduled to return to Earth on Friday, April 10, with a targeted landing for the Pacific Ocean. But spectators who want to catch a glimpse of the landing are curious to know if they will actually see the crew return. So, where exactly will Artemis II land in the ocean?
The moon flyby mission was one for the history books. In addition to the crew’s stunning images of the Earthset rover from the Moon’s curve, Koch and Glover became the first women and the first Black man, respectively, to travel to the Moon. Although science is not usually emotional, the crew shared a touching moment while orbiting the moon. They named the hole after Weizmann’s late wife, carol Weisman, Who died of breast cancer in 2020. She is survived by her daughters, Ellie and Katie.
“We would like to call [the crater] “Carol, as we saw in a video shared by NASA,” said Hansen, the mission specialist. “Several years ago, as we began this journey, in the close-knit family of astronauts, we lost a loved one. Her name was Carol. Reid’s wife. Mother of Katie and Ellie. We would like to call her Carol.”
Now that we’ll be welcoming the four astronauts home soon, find out where Artemis II will land and more about the landing below.
