'We will not be intimidated into silence': Celina Jaitley slams estranged husband Peter Haag and her father-in-law's defamation threats

Celina Jaitley, who filed for divorce from Austrian businessman Peter Haag on the grounds of domestic violence and cruelty, has now responded after receiving new legal notices threatening defamation cases from her husband as well as her father-in-law, Wolfgang Haag.

The actress confirmed in her last post that she will not remain silent.

In her latest Instagram post, Celina Jaitley revealed that she has received two new legal notices, one from Peter Haag and the other from his father Wolfgang Haag. Thus, they threatened to take defamatory action against her. Now, Selena dealt with each accusation head-on; She wrote: “In my view, these reports are an attempt to divert attention from police complaints, probation notices, allegations of violence, documented evidence before the competent authorities, and pending cases before the courts.

She also addressed her public statements, saying, “Talking about my life experiences and seeking legitimate remedies is not defamation.”

One of the sharpest parts of Selena’s statement targeted selective media use by Hague’s family in the past. She noted that public attention was not always unwelcome. “For many years, publicity regarding our family was actively embraced, including having Peter participate in magazine covers, interviews, and articles featuring me and our children, to suit his interests,” she wrote.

So it’s ironic that when I started talking about my own experiences, my legal battles, my concerns as a mother, and my quest for justice, I was met with legal notices instead of answers.

“Continued efforts are being made to remove me from my role as mother to my children,” Celina Jaitley shared, in the same post. “My public appeals arose out of concerns about the removal of my children from the matrimonial residence and the possibility of them being removed outside the jurisdiction of the Austrian and Indian courts without my knowledge or consent.

As a mother seeking joint custody, I believe it is my right and responsibility to raise these concerns.

Selena also described the years of pressure she endured, saying: “I have long felt that I was pressured, intimidated, and had my rights assaulted while living in a remote Austrian village, specifically as a woman who lost her parents.”

Celina Jaitley denounced what she described as a coordinated effort to tarnish her reputation.

“The image of a 50-year-old man and his 75-year-old father (recently on his third marriage) coming together to issue legal threats against a woman with no recourse – after she mustered the courage to deal with years of abuse and the forced transfer of her premarital assets, at the moment she sought relief before the relevant courts – speaks for itself,” the actress wrote.

Her post also stated: “All evidence has been submitted before the competent authorities and supervising courts of various jurisdictions.

What seems to bother some people is not that I spoke, but that I refused to remain silent.”

Concluding her statement, Selena wrote: “I will not remain silent about my experiences or seek legal remedies available to me. I fight with evidence and have full faith in the judicial systems of India and Austria.”

More about Celina Jaitley’s marriage

Celina Jaitley married Peter Haag in 2010, after stepping away from mainstream Bollywood. The couple welcomed boy twins in 2012, followed by another set of twins in 2017, although one of the infants from the second pregnancy died shortly after birth. However, what started as a quiet life in Austria has now turned into a legal battle involving two countries.
