'Varanasi' Update: Writer Vijayendra Prasad hints at key Ramayana scene;

SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film ‘Varanasi’ continues to be one of the most awaited projects among film lovers. The film stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. Since the first glimpse of it was revealed, fans have been actively discussing the potential plot as well as its mythological connections.Writer Vijayendra Prasad has now shared new details during an interaction session.

‘Varanasi’ writer teases key sequence for Ramayana

During an open session hosted by Filmy Focus, Vijayendra Prasad was asked about the sequence he spoke about earlier. The sequence has already become a point of discussion among fans.When asked if the much-discussed 30-minute segment was related to mythology, politics or spirituality, he replied: “It is a war between Rama and Kumbhakarna.”Vijayendra Prasad also talked about some of the visuals that the audience has already seen earlier. He hinted that the clues may already be present in promotional materials.He said, “You saw in the trailer, didn’t you? I saw Rama and Kumbhakarna. I saw the tail of Lord Hanuman and his chariot on it. I’m talking about that…stunned.”He did not continue talking about the incident and stopped before revealing additional information.

Another question later touched on the possibility of time zones being part of the film’s story. Vijayendra Prasad chose not to explain further and simply said: “We should not talk about this matter anymore.”

The film ‘Varanasi’ features Mahesh Babu in the role of Rudra. Priyanka Chopra plays Mandakini while Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Kumbha.The project is directed by SS Rajamouli. The film is currently progressing through the production stages.

He explained that the role pushed him into a different acting field.According to the actor, performers generally rely on body language along with expressions during scenes. He revealed that this role changed that process significantly.“Always be aware that your body is available as a communication tool. Then you are put in a situation where nothing can be seen from the neck down, and you realize that everything you do physically will not be visible,” Prithviraj told Collider.He also added: “Everything you have at your disposal is focused on your face. What you need to convey should come through your face and eyes.”Speaking about the role, he also said that the complexity made the character more interesting for him. “Definitely one of the most complex characters ever conceived by Mr. Rajamouli,” Prithviraj concluded.‘Varanasi’ is currently in production and remains one of the most awaited releases in the coming years.
