The copyright dispute between Trimurti Films and the makers of Dhurandhar 2 over the song ‘Rang De Lal (Oye Oye)’ has taken a new turn.The Delhi High Court was informed that mediation between the two sides had failed.
Justice Tusshar Rao Gidela has now listed the matter for hearing on May 8, as reported by Bar & Bench.

Trimurti Films has alleged that the song “Rang De Lal (Oye Oye)” in Dhurandhar 2 uses the composition “Tirchi Topiwala” from Tridev’s 1989 film without permission.The original song, featuring Naseeruddin Shah and Sonam Khan, is composed by Kalyanji Anandji along with Viju Shah with lyrics by Anand Bakshi and vocals by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee. Trimurti Films claimed that this amounted to copyright infringement and objected to its use in the film and promotions.

What did the makers say?
Super Cassettes Industries, which owns the audio rights, opposed any temporary relief. They said Trimurti Films was not fully transparent and ignored previous similar cases.Producer B62 Films told the court that the film has already been released in theaters and may hit OTT platforms only by mid-May.
The court had previously referred the case to mediation, but no settlement was reached. The case will now be heard on May 8.
