Timothée Chalamet unexpectedly dropped the first teaser for Adidas’ upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign on Instagram, instantly sending football and film fans into a frenzy after revealing a star-studded crossover mixing some of the biggest names in football, music and Hollywood. The teaser appeared without any long rollout or gradual build-up, with Chalamet simply posting a short cinematic clip alongside the caption: “TMRW/MY SOCC- FOOTBALL DREAMS COME TRUE!! @adidas.” Earlier, he also reposted an Adidas clip on his Instagram Story featuring T-shirts linked to several of the campaign’s co-stars, which quietly hinted at the crossover before the main teaser arrived.Within minutes, social media users began comparing the trailer to an “Avengers-style” football crossover after spotting appearances from players and cultural figures across different generations of the sport.

Messi, Zidane, Beckham, Yamal and Bad Bunny all feature

The Adidas teaser brings together a wide mix of footballers, former stars and cultural figures ahead of the 2026 World Cup, including Lionel Messi, eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and Inter Miami striker, Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid and England midfielder, Lamine Yamal, Barcelona’s young Spanish winger, Trinity Rodman, women’s national team striker, Zinedine Zidane, former France and Real Madrid midfielder, and David Beckham, former England captain. Ousmane Dembélé, Paris Saint-Germain winger, and the bad bunny.

The campaign also includes Pedri, the Barcelona and Spain midfielder, Rafinha, the Brazilian national team player and Barcelona striker, Florian Wirtz, the German playmaker, Santiago Jimenez, the Mexican striker, Aitana Bonmatti, the Ballon d’Or-winning Barcelona midfielder, and Alessandro Del Piero, the former Juventus and Italy striker.

The teaser itself carries a fast-moving, almost chaotic energy, with Chalamet appearing to act as a character assembling a soccer “dream team” as it moves through various scenes featuring stars from across the sport. An early exchange between Chalamet and Bad Bunny instantly went viral online after the actor said: “What do I know about football? Nothing. I know about football, Benito, football.”

Chalamet infuses the intensity of “Marty Supreme” into the campaign

Fans quickly noticed similarities between the campaign’s style and the intense aesthetic surrounding Chalamet’s recent film Marty Supreme. The teaser uses fast cuts, busy urban environments, stylized lighting, and an aggressive pacing that many viewers have compared to Josh Safdie’s filmmaking style associated with the project. Chalamet seems to lean right into this vibe throughout the trailer, carrying the same restless, manic energy associated with his “Marty Mauser” character from the film.Scenes shown during the trailer show Chalamet moving through the campaign almost like a scout assembling an awesome football team, with Bad Bunny serving as a local guide during several sequences. At one point, Chalamet says that the “local crew” haven’t lost since 1996, before the teaser quickly cuts between various conversations and street football settings featuring Bad Bunny, Lionel Messi and several other stars who have appeared in the campaign.

One clip of the teaser places Zinedine Zidane and Alessandro Del Piero inside a South American-style street football environment, while David Beckham appears separately in a stylized sequence inspired by the early 2000s. Another scene shows Lamine Yamal sitting at the back along with other players while Chalamet drives the car. During that moment, Chalamet turns around and says: “Everyone is locked up! Like Lamine” before Yamal nods.

The campaign forms part of Adidas’ wider promotional campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place across the US, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. The tournament will also be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams, making it the largest edition in the competition’s history. Chalamet first confirmed his involvement in the campaign in February during an interview with French radio station France Inter, although few expected the final version to include such a significant intersection between football and entertainment culture. The actor, known for following French club Saint-Etienne, had already sparked rumors earlier in the year after he was seen carrying the official ball of the 2026 World Cup during a softball appearance. Adidas appears to be keen on expanding football’s place within mainstream entertainment, using Hollywood stars and musicians alongside elite athletes to push the tournament beyond traditional sports audiences. Online reaction to the teaser was very positive, with many fans praising the “pure cinema” feel of the footage and the sheer size of the actors involved. The full campaign video is expected to be released tomorrow after Chalamet teased the drop with the caption “TMRW” on Instagram.
