Box office update: The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond debuted amid earlier legal challenges and has already grossed Rs 5.40 crore on its second day. The film, directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, gained momentum once the Kerala High Court lifted the stay on its release, after petitions questioned its U/A certificate. After the Kerala High Court paved the way for the release of ‘The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond’, the film went on floors on its scheduled release date but late in the evening. The film managed to earn a decent amount from its first day shows.

The Kamakhya Narayan Singh directorial saw a growth in numbers at the box office compared to its first day collection. According to a Sacnilk report, it collected Rs 0.75 lakh on the first day. Meanwhile, the film collected Rs 4.65 crore at the box office on its second day in theatres. This brings the film’s total earnings to Rs 5.40 crore.

According to the same report, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond saw an overall Hindi occupancy of 12.20% on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Controversy over ‘Kerala Story 2’

Petitions have been filed against The Kerala Story 2 after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted a U/A 16+ certificate to the film. Initially, a single judge of the Kerala High Court stopped the release of the film, stating that it might cause law and order problems, besides disrupting harmony in society. The judge also criticized the Censor Board for granting a U/A certificate to the film. However, the decision makers soon appealed. On the day of the release, the special session was conducted by a division bench of three judges.

They lifted the moratorium on the film.
