The Congress on Sunday released the complete list of 284 candidates for the West Bengal Assembly elections, fielding Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary from Baharampur.

The party has fielded Pradeep Prasad from Bhabanipur, where Mamata Banerjee successfully contested the last elections. The list also included former MP Mausam Noor from Malatipur.
The list also includes Madhab Rai from Darjeeling, Abdul Hanan from Sujapur, Susmita Biswas from Dum Dum, Gautam Bhattacharya from Diamond Harbour, Suvik Mukherjee from Asansol Dakshin and Prasenjit Bhiotandi from Asansol Uttar.
The announcement of the candidates came a day after senior Congressional leaders held a meeting regarding the list for the upcoming elections.
The party decided to run alone in the elections, which are witnessing direct competition between the Transitional Military Council led by Mamata Banerjee and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Elections in West Bengal will be held in two phases, with the first phase scheduled to take place on April 23 and the second phase on April 29. The vote counting is scheduled for May 4.
In the last Lok Sabha elections in the state, held in eight phases in 2021, the Trinamool Congress registered a landslide victory by winning 213 seats. The Congress and its ally the Left Front got a blank result in the 2021 state elections.
